  • Not a lot of pictures to share but have made quite a bit of progress the last few weeks. Engine bay is about 95% completed with wiring, hoses, ac, radiator, all in. Found an upper radiator hose that worked perfectly with just a 1/2” cut off of each end (Gates 22392). Tried several lowers with no luck so ended up getting a cross over tube. AC evaporator and hoses is a real pain to get in under the dash while fishing the hose through the kick panel and air box, all while tightening fittings. Hope I never have a leak. Went ahead and upgraded to a hydro boost for good measure. Hung the fenders and grill last night as well. Hoping to get back up and running in the next few weeks. Partial list of items still to do include: bleed brakes, install trans, wire efi under dash, wire AC under dash, AC ducting, exhaust, plus the million other little items.

        • Was able to fire her up last night. Just for a few seconds since I don’t have any exhaust yet. But feels good to know she runs at least. Not to long now and she will be back on the road.

              • I know that my engine bay won't end up that nice, but I am very inspired by what you have done, and what 904Bronco does. Nice job!

                  • Thank you all for the kind words. I’m pretty excited to get back on the road and to the Round Up this year. I have an appointment to get exhaust on Monday. Things left to complete are AC ducting, AC charge, hood install, and put the dash back together (radio, glove box, etc.).

                    • Exhaust installed today. Issue I’m having now is I can’t get it to idle. Wants to race at 2500+ rpm. It will idle about 700-800 rpm when I start it but as soon as on as I give it any throttle at all it jumps up to 2500+ and won’t come back down until I shut it off and restart. Any ideas? Did have one code P0174 lean bank 2.

                      • Figured out the high idle issue. I had rotated the iac 180 degrees to clear the oil fill tube. I rotated it back this evening and rotated the throttle body 90 degrees so the tps is on top and the iac cleared the oil fill. Fixed the idle issue. Apparently the iac can only mount one direction.

                        • I was just going to suggest that you check your IAC, but never mind. You got it! Glad you figured it out.

                          • Sorry I missed this Mike, my thoughts as well IAC related... They typically don't play right when they are 180* out. Always get a good feeling when you figure things out on your own!

                            • Only problem is now the TPS is just rubbing the hood. I really need to rotate the throttle body another 90 degrees to get the TPS to the side. Is it possible to run an IAC from another vehicle? The issue with the Explorer IAC is the wiring connector comes straight out the end and it hits the oil fill tube. I believe the mustang IAC plug is at 90 degrees compared to the Explorer which would probably clear the oil fill tube. Otherwise I will look at modifying the fill tube. Still have a few other bugs to work out. Engine seems to have a slight backfire on acceleration. Still getting the P0174 code as well. Had a small coolant leak that I finally got stopped. I will say that the hydro boost brake set up is amazing compared to my old vacuum boost. What a difference.

                              • I know exactly what you are talking about, see picture from my 71.

I went to the wreaking yard and found a Ford valve cover and cut the straight portion (with threaded cap) off it and used it instead. It was like a 86 Lincoln with a 5.0

You move one thing and it affect soo many others things...

                                Never tried the Mustang IAC...
