  • Re: 67 bronco

For Explorer cable or a Mustang...

I copied a bracket that I saw on a Full size mid -70's Ford at the wrecking yard that had two cables going to the accel pedal...

Done this on numerous builds with great success.

The important thing to do is try and keep the cable pulls as straight as possible at pedal arm. And then test that the movement of the cable as it moves the TB butterfly open to the full extent.
You may have to bend the arm of the pedal assembly some to get WOT or to limit the possibility of snapping the cable...

As I have been finding out lately... Explorer 5.0L have been out of production for 17 years and some things are obsolete now.

      Thank you Doug!
I did get the cable out of the Mountaineer. I had read that it was needed before I pulled the motor.
      Thanks

A little paint on the needles. Found this paint at Hobby Lobby. Freshened right up after 51 years.

Ordered a smooth collar off of classic Broncos. Arrived today. Another piece to the puzzle. Getting rid of the nub from the shifter. Things are going back together.

Steering column is rebuilt with new bearings and the smooth shift collar. It’s going in this weekend. Things are coming together nicely

I’m not. Just using to hold wires together til I get everything situated, to length and in place. Then solder and heat shrink.

                        Well then... My apologizes...

The build is moving along well then... Wish I could say the same. A little bit each day as they say...

Yes. A little bit everyday. I don’t think I’ve had more than six hours straight to work on it in a day. Mostly an hour here and there. Baby steps. My first build, so I want to measure twice and solder once (LoL) and make it look as clean as possible.

Been working on the wiring the last two weeks. Today was able to check my relay operation on the harness that I made from watching the efiguy video. I thought I screwed up somehow. But after tracing out the wiring. Found that I did not have the ground hooked up that goes to the relays. Lol. Oops. Seems to work great. Next up. Welding the Mounts to the fuel tank and wiring up the fuel pump and fuel level sending unit.pic for attention. Lol.

Still working on the electrical. I don’t like the fuse block that I used. I bought it when I made the harness to be able to get he harness done. Any recommendations on fuse blocks to feed the relays.
                                Thanks
