Welp. Another leak. I’m going to need to change the intake manifold. Can I use any intake from a 96-2001 explorer motor? Mine is a 99 Mountaineer motor.
      Thanks

Yes... But 96 motors have internal EGR so you may have to block the port. Temp sender screwed down too far in manifold...

It always seem that if it is not one thing it is another... If it helps I did the same thing, just not on an Explorer manifold... Good Hunting.

Grab a spare water pipe and PS reservoir too

Well that sure sucks. It's hard not to over tighten those.

I won’t do that again. I was out in Fairfield on a job and went to the Fairfield pick and pull. Pulled an intake manifold out of a 96. It’s always nice when somebody loosens everything up but doesn’t know about the two bolts under the 5.0 plaque. So if I get home early enough today I will be installing it. After I tap and plug the EGR plug for the 96 manifold.

After searching around. Found the plug at O’Reilly. Male pipe thread tap was at Ace hardware. What thread sealer should I use? Doug, I didn’t see your post til now. I’ll grab extra parts on next visit. Right now this Refrigeration guy is working 12 hours days on a slow day. $$$

Would the red Loctite be OK to install the shredding plug?

I would go blue... Temp is the issue... It might never come out with red!!

Well, I removed the intake manifold. Only problem I ran into was the front passenger bolt broke off in my motor. Same issue happened at pNp in the donor motor. Must be a common issue. I’ll get it out. Tomorrow and tap it. The fun continues. Haha!

More fun. Broken chinesium tap broke off in the head. Another bronco buddy, who is a mechanic, has a remover that’ll cut thru it like butter. His words. Hopefully back together by this weekend.

I was able to get the tap out. That bronco buddies tool did not cut thru it mike butter as advertised. I was able to use a torch a hundred time to make lava out of it and slowly chisel it out. I’m a happy camper. Click image for larger version
