I’d be interested to hear what Garry said. As I will be needing a pcm in the future. I will rework my own harness for my next build. I’ve watched a few diesel videos on guys that have had over $20k in fines. Scary stuff for business and us hobbyists.

Well got a phone call from Jim Creel yesterday, my long backordered Tuffy center console has finally come in. That means as soon as I finish building the 96/97 Explorer EFI harness I have, I can get back to work on Mater.
I have 150 miles on the motor and I look forward to finishing up all the little loose ends...2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting

New Bronco porn in the shop... Anyone else get this poster at the Round up this year?
Brackets made for the Tuffy box and back from Powder coaters... Got everything installed today.
Took the Drivers door apart and sdjusted the locking mechanism, all better now. Working on the steering stabilzer install now...
Explorer EFI harness is done, now all I need to do is continuity test all the wires and then do a powered test...2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting

Center console installed with stereo from my Son's 2001 Bullit Mustang that was totalled in May. Amp under the Pass seat and just made a fresh set of speakers boxes.
In the next few days I will be installing a factory antenna in the replacement fender.
So here is where the story gets interesting... A potential Buyer for Poppy, my 67 that I have on the market, comes by the house to do a test drive. After he finishes the drive, he see's Mater and gives him a once over. Many questions about him and then the... Would you sell Mater? I gave it some thought overnight and gave him a price. He brought his Wife over the next day to see Mater and Poppy. They couldn't drive Mater as I was just starting to install the stereo equipment. They are definately interested.
I then gave them the story on how Poppy is done and if you buy Mater just because he is an auto tranny, vs. the manual in Poppy, then you can slide down a slippery slope when it comes to paint, body work, and restoration. You start replacing parts: door handles, seals, weatherstrip, chrome, emblems, etc. Prices can quickly escalate, with the nickle and dime stuff. Verses, just doing a transmission conversion. (Wife doesn't drive a stick) Gave them something to think about... And told they when I get the stereo finished and a coupe of loose ends, they could take Mater for a test drive, if they were still interested....
Wasn't expecting that at all...2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting

I will re-torque the suspension components tomorrow and offer the interested party a chance to drive him.
I don't know what I will do with Poppy, havent given it a great deal of thought? Just took my youngest up to Chico to start his freshman year Tuesday, Started a Master Bath remodel Wednesday..
Might consider another 78-79 FS Bronco again, but even those are getting top dollar now... 1st step is to see if Mater actually goes?

Well...
Poppy is Gone.
And I accepted an offer today for Mater, followed by a Deposit.
So I can Officially say that I am "Bronco less" at the moment.
Looking at a Gen II or a Gen III for now and I can say that there is not much out there. Someone told me yesterday that I would have to "stumble" onto one...2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting

I know where there's a "bronco-shaped shelf" in a garage. I have stopped and talked to the owner before, he expressed no interest in selling, but it has been years and I know it's still there.
If the guy happens to be out someday when I am passing by, I will stop again. All I really know about it is that it's somewhere between 66-77 and that he drove it in there at some point...
I don't know of any others nearby but I'll keep an eye out as well.1970 Bronco

Going to stop by Jim Go's place today, Mater is being stripped down to get ready for paint.
Last I heard he will be Blue in color, if the the New owner and his wife can come to an agreement on what shade...
Also going to pick up a 98 Explorer long block motor from Jim, and look at a Bronco that I am buying from him. Out of state DMV paperwork is taking it's own sweet time....2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting

Mater went to the painter today... JimGo helped the new owner strip him down....
The color chosen is a new Bronco color, some shade of blue? He couldn't tell me the name... (Antimatter Blue, with argent accents to match the wheels)
I will ask Edwin to join Norcal and continue this thread/start his own.Last edited by 904Bronco; 10-26-2021, 07:50 PM.2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting
