Re: Lever actions-what do you shoot

Saw a S&w 357 in the case for over $850. where did those prices come from? So Along with the lever .44 I also walked out of there with an MP shield 9mm to keep it from being lonely.

You will really enjoy the shield, it's a very pleasant gun to shoot for how small it is.

The only lever action I have is a Henry Golden Boy in .22lr. It's a lot of fun.

They had one in the store (used with octagon barrel) I was thinking about for my son. Pretty rifle.

I like the Henry but in all the big loads the price is a little steep, I was checking out the Rossi the other day made by tauras and it looks nice at a great price but I also have a hard time with what one I like the 44 but the 30-30 would do the trick for most things

I'd like to get a lever action in 45-70 for when I go to Alaska. The guide gun that Wild West Alaska builds is cool and breaks in two for easy packing but it's really pricey!

                  I like this rifle..

The gun shop just had an Alaskan Chiappa 357 come in that I looked at for $1500. I really like the idea of the break barrel, but they seem to develop some wiggle between the barrel and stock.

I went and looked at the 30-30 lever actions today at a local gun shop. Even with an 18" barrel they are small rifles and not too heavy either. In 45-70 it would be just perfect for a hike in big bear country...

If I had enough $$$$ that I could spend and the wife not stab me, id look at a custom 460 lever.

Re: Lever actions-what do you shoot

                          I have many levers. A couple of Win 94's in .30 WCF, 1910 & 1913, heirlooms.
                          A 1892 in .25-20, also a 1913 heirloom.
A 70's vintage Win .30-30 I got for my 14th birthday (taken a lot of deer with that one).
A Marlin 1895 XLR SS in .45-70 I got from a group of friends on my 40 th birthday, my bear back-up rifle.
Browning BLR-22, G3 wood. Too pretty to take into the field, but a fine rifle to shoot.

Picked up my Marlin today. Thing is beautiful! There wasn't a ding or scratch on it.............until I mentioned the rear sight was not centered and the dumb f*#k behind the counter tries to hit it over with a hammer. Put a small shallow ding on it that I think most wouldn't notice, but I know its there. I took it out of hands and told him not to touch it. Oh well, going shooting this weekend. Still happy.
