That is no joke, it was about an inch from overflowing until it cooked down some. I added the beans w/o straining and at first I thought this would be a problem, but after simmering for a couple of hours the consistency is perfect.
Glad you enjoyed it! I may have to make this tomorrow.

I've heard of them, but never dabbled. Habanero is about the hottest pepper I've played with so far. This chili is even better tasting the second day.

How is the heat level with this recipe as stated in the original post?

I have been experimenting with my own Chili recipe and can't get the spice/heat level up where I want it. I made a pot yesterday with 3 Jalapenos, 2 Habaneros, 1 Anaheim, and about a tablespoon of Cayenne powder. I added the peppers in as I was browning the beef (towards the end) and then let the whole thing simmer with the rest of the ingredients (similar to Aaron's list) for a couple of hours.

I want to make Aaron's recipe as stated sometime too... just didn't have everything for it on hand yesterday and was too lazy to go out for the rest of it.

My modified batch wasn't too hot, but that's all relative. I knew I'd be sharing it, so I don't want to hurt anyone. On a one to ten, I'd give the heat about a 4. Jalapenos can be so inconsistant, some are hot, some are like a little bell pepper.

I guess I spoke too soon about my results... just had some leftovers for lunch and wow, it got hot in the fridge overnight! Probably too hot for most people. It was decent yesterday but not what I expected for the amount of spice I used.

I just saw a ghost pepper salsa at Raley's. Not sure if I will try it or not. I like hot but those ghost peppers bring a whole new meaning to hot from what I hear.

                  Re: Award Winning CHILI RECIPE

Since it is a rainy weekend, I decided to do some cooking.

I am almost done with the Chili, and it is damn good. Really good.

Next time I'll cut the recipe in half, because it makes a lot. I'll be eating chili for a week.

Aaron, thank you for posting that up, it is fantastic.

I'm also making ribs this weekend with Delta's rub and BBQ sauce.

                    Chili is almost gone.

A buddy stopped by....took some home.

                    Nieghbor stopped by...took some home.

The wife set some aside to take to a classmate.

Damn...a few hours ago I had a huge pot of chili, and now it's almost gone.

Now I know why the recipe makes so much.

This is two days in a row I have a big pot on the stove. Great recipe. Yesterday I made it for a family contest but didn't get to eat much so today I'm making more.
