  • Stanislaus National Forest closure info

So as to not hijack Rick's Rubicon closure thread - here's some information about the Stanislaus National Forest (basically the area from highway 4, south to Yosemite). In short, most of the forest roads are closed though 2018 due to storm damage.

Check out the pictures and the linked flickr album. The damage is nothing short of impressive:

This is not going to be a great summer for wheeling. A neighbor was recently staying near Shaver Lake and told me that things are bad up there too - some trails may not open at all due to the amount of snow and the higher elevations that those trails reach.

I think my time in the mountains this year may be limited to a Tahoe cabin trip next month, and maybe some mid-summer skiing at Squaw Valley

Yea! Spicer and Slickrock are now open.
No word on the others. Kids are pissed Candy Rock is closed.

Nice. I did not expect to see that area open this year. Thank you for the update. Slickrock isn't exactly difficult terrain, but I really enjoy that area just to go hang out. Many trips over the past twenty years.
