    Project Rock-Crawler

    So this all started with me wanting to upgrade my bronco combined with the opportunity to buy Matts old rig. The idea was to strip my yellow Bronco of the engine, drivetrain, axles and tires and swap them over to the blue one.

    One thing led to another and the next thing I knew I picked up a 15' L96 6.0 with a 6l90 transmission with 40,000 miles on it.

      After thinking about it for a while I ditched the idea of installing my 203/205 transfer case for an atlas 4speed.

          This time around I made life a little easier knowing there would be a lot of cutting to be done so l bought a plasma cutter. I figured the cost of cutoff wheels would equal the Hypertherm. At least that was my excuse.

            First order of business was to cut all the brackets off the front 60 and straighten the axle. It's been bent since I've had it and leaks oil because the axle shaft is not centered on the inner oil seal. I called around and couldn't find a shop that really wanted to do it. I came across an I beam being tossed from a job and snagged it. Using some chain, jacks and heat, I jacked up the center section till it was past straight in the opposite direction. I let it cool on its own then welded in an Artec truss.

                    I was just looking at all the pics and had to stop and look at the second picture with your body on the trailer. Holy F%$^ are you trying to kill yourself. Your jack with the leaning blocks and the front end on a cart with castors. LOL. Good progress. Moving right along

                          I've been busy with other stuff but I finished tubing the front end. I had notched the front frame to fit a larger radiator. The bracing should keep everything Rigid.
