  • Bronco upgrade project spirals out of control...

as they almost always do. Thanks to Cage Dave. j/k Dave is awesome. I took the Bronco to him to have the top painted, new glass installed, fiberglass headliner and quarter panels installed and a new cage. I wanted to have the back half of the inside of the tub Linexed. Dave convinced me to Linex the whole tub interior. There was no indication of rust in the floor pans either inside or underneath the rig. However the PO had troweled on some kind of mastic substance on the interior of the front floor pans. We don't think it was to hide rust but to prevent it. It appears that the mastic trapped moisture between it and the floor pans and caused them to rust. The driver's side was rusted through and had to be replaced. It's a good thing that Dave convinced me to Linex the whole tub.

How much did the linex cost you? Im thinking of getting mine done soon. Did you consider any other options?

You will like the linex, but speaking from experience, get that firewall sealed up and insulated. My bronco gets so effing hot inside. Insulation is a project on my short list once I get past my current axle replacement project.

The Line X was $950. The base coat was $800 and I added the clear coat UV protectant which was $150. The clear coat make it a little more shiny. It also keeps it from fading. The Line X is guaranteed for life against peeling or chipping. With the clear coat it's guaranteed for life against fading.

I didn't really consider any other brand of bedliner. From my research I believe it's the best. It's also probably the most expensive.

Here's another pic of the Line X:

I got the Racket Jacket Noise and Heat Dampening System from WH for the front half of the tub from WH. Here's a pic:
