  • Extended Test Drive

Wasn't planning on such a long test drive so soon, but we needed a 4wd vehicle for a snow day with the kids. The Bronco worked well, made it to Reno and back to San Jose without anything falling off! Got around 15 MPG on the trip. Is this good or bad for a Explorer 5.0 EFI/NV3550/3.73/33" tires?

Thats one way to break her in Jim! It looks good in the snow...

Mileage, well 15 mpg is about what I get with EFI / NV3550, 4:11 and 35"

How did the heater do? Did it keep up with the cold weather?

The heater was fine in the front, with the only complaint being from cousin Johnny riding in back seat (I did bury him in a snow bank during a snowball fight so that may have played a part!). I did upgrade the blower to a 96 F250 blower. I do need to add a couple diverter blades to push some defrost air toward the center of the windshield (I made due with some cut up water bottle pieces wedged in there).

Just be careful when the roads get icy. The 92" wheelbase hates ice and can
          swap ends in a hurry...!

I did put it into a snow bank goofing around, lucky it was a nice and soft snow bank!

Looks great! I want mine running so I can take it on an extended test drive!
