  • Rubicon 7-16

We camped at Airport Flats this time since we had a bunch of little kids with us. We went in through Wentworth and headed to the little sluice to eat lunch before returning to camp. My brother in an fj40 had turned around early in Wentworth to head back and ended up frying some wires on the exhaust manifolds. My brother Scott (bent70) and myself continued on doing soup bowl and watching a couple toyotas do the sluice. Going back the bearing noise in my trans or transfer case was just getting worse but still working. On the Wentworth side I rounded a corner and found Scott on his side. Flopped it into the wall. After a half hour we get it righted up, cleaned, repacked and continue on. 20' further he almost went over again. Pretty much incident free after that except for almost side swiping the Ranger on the road. Enjoyed the rest of the day with kids riding the 50. Good trip. Oh ya, also a pick of the bear at Ellis.

Aside from the flop, looks like a good time. That's a pretty good sized bear too... just a reminder we're not alone out there!

Those are my old tires and rims, just patched the easiest tire to fix to complete the set.
It was so nice to use these tires again, my back is thanking me. The car rolled very fast and hard, almost looks like matts now, but with crushed tubing.

                        Re: Rubicon 7-16

It was a weird angle and as soon as the front pass dropped the driver rear unloaded. On the way in I crawled between the wall and rock in front of where I rolled. That was pretty cool as I was high on the wall and the space between the big rock and wall was 4' or so.
                        Heres the damage..........
