  • Crossmember for AOD swap

Does anyone have any specific plans/measurements/drawings that has worked for them on the AOD swap with the Dana 20? There are two places the crossmember can bolt to. Either the A/A adapter or the Trans or should I plan to bolt to both of them? Any help would be great!

Kyle (kman67) has an AOD behind his 351. Ask him what he did. He had a D20 and replaced with a STaK.

I'm sure Brian (68Broncosport in the yahoogroup) will be following this thread. He's got an AOD he's figuring out mounts and crossmembers on as we speak.

I brought an NV4500 crossmember home the other day for him to look at, just to see what the similarities might be. Now I've got the 3550 crossmember too.

Do you already have a crossmember bought or fabbed up Brad? If so, who's is it and where did you get it? I thought A/A used to have one, but don't remember seeing it listed the last time I checked.

Paul, I do not have anything to go on. I will attempt to fab something up. If it works, I will be happy to share with all.

          Re: Crossmember for AOD swap

A/A kits come with directions to modify the factory cross member... Check their website and see if you can down load the directions... At least they did when I had the 75...

I take it back. I looked on their website, no install manual that I could find. Of Course the website has changed since I looked last... I will look at home if I still have the directions, if not I know where the 75's new owner lives Brad... In EPA. Would you like to see the crossmember in person?

After some digging in my old manuals and pictures, I scanned these. I hope this helps.

Thanks Kyle... That does help. I was told you replaced your Dana 20 with a Stak, if you still have the cross member I could see to mock mine up, I would like to see it if possible.

                    Re: Crossmember for AOD swap

I kept the stock crossmember when I put in the Stak because I was able to reuse the AA adaptor from the AOD swap. (I did modify it some more to clear the driveshaft and exhaust.)

When you cut the section out of the crossmember, did you just flip it upside down and weld it back in?

Yup, that's exactly what I did. Check your email for my reply to the PM.
