  • Grinding calipers on a D60 to fit 15 inch rim

Has anyone here done it? I'm wondering how much clearance I need between the rim and caliper. 1/8 inch, 1/4 inch ?? Does a steel rim flex at all during driving and rock crawling? I don't want the rim to hit the caliper. Thanks.

More only experience is with a 3/4 ton D44. I had to grind about 3/16 on the leading and following ends of the caliper to clear steel 15x10's.

Mine actually is a 3/4 ton HD D44. I read my title and noticed that I typed D60. Oops! I have the big dual piston calipers and as I was grinding last night I noticed that the "T" clip that holds the caliper in place is getting mighty thin. Is this ok? I don't suppose that you have any pictures of where and how much you had to grind do you?

Grinding really depends on what Back spacing you have on you wheels.
but just grind and check with the wheel, You do not need more then a hair between the wheel and caliper. just enough so it does not rub

OK, cool. That's what I wasn't sure about. How much space is needed between the rim and caliper. Thanks!
