  • HydroBoost Choices

I tried this question on Classic Broncos and got a bunch of jibber jabber answers.

I have decided to put hydroboost in my Bronco. Easy to decide.

James Duff, Wild Horses, Bronco Graveyard all have kits.
Some have external , some have internal boosters.

I want to use one of these kits. I know there are ways to piece it together, or get it from a junk yard. I do not want to to this. When it comes to my brakes I would like new parts in a kit designed for a Bronco.

Does anybody have any dealings with one of these kits. I am leaning towards the Duff kit because it looks like it'll bolt right onto the bracket I already have installed.

And if Delta reads this....will your shop install one of these kits.

    Thanks...Mike

i have some experience in that I bought a unit before the bronco shops offered them, I have not installed yet since i want to work out some other brake issues first. The unit i have was developed by a company that builds them for various applications, they now offer them for the bronco and sell them through JBG this unit was developed from assistance from Todd Z in AZ.. it looks clean and is all new parts

I can install this for you Mike. I'll give you a good deal...
I might be able to get you a better deal on the Duff Kit as I am a dealer for them...

I read your post on CB.COM Good info...but dear god....how many junk yards will you have to rummage through to find one that is in good shape? If you bought a new unit from the parts store and all of the hoses, you might save a couple hundy at the most.

I have a source for brand new take-offs from E450-550's (the same unit as what's on the SuperDutys). Anyone who is interested-$100 (I'm assuming local pick-up, but I can ship too for extra). These were removed from the van chassis so they could put on electric boosters for RV conversions. I can e-mail pics of the unit if you're interested.

Thank you for the sane reply. I will definetly talk to you more when the time gets closer to do that. I just bought a cage from Crab (Rob) and have to save up my pennies again.

Thanks for the patience-here's some pics for you guys. I'm working out a deal with this guy so that I'll be the intermediary for selling these units-but for members of NorCal Broncos, I'll stick with my original pricing of $100 (+plus shipping if you can't pick up locally).

Again, I want to emphasize that I'll try and make sure I get ones with lines attached, but not all of them are.

That looks a lot better than what you find in the junkyards for sure. Hydroboost has been on my to do list now for the past 6 months.

Yeah, both the units I've received appear to be exactly what he says they are- take-off units. I know the junkyard units are cheap, but for the price-you can't beat getting these new units (especially your guy's price, as I'm thinking I'm going to ask $150 anywhere else).

I also forgot to mention the bracket is perfectly perpendicular to the unit, but when mounted the unit does taper down about 5 degrees. You can kinda see that in the second picture.

Does anyone have pics of one of these units installed? I would love to get rid of that giant booster under my hood!

Is it just me? Does this make the brakes work better or just give you less pedal pressure? Is it because you have a cammed up motor with less vacuum so there is more response with an hydralic system? I ask because my rig will stop on a dime, I probably need a proportioning valve but am waiting for my 40" MTR's to decide? I am running one ton axles so I am sure that is a factor. Thanks for the imput. FM
