My #@%$& brake light switch is driving me nuts. I have it installed and it *was* working but now its not. I can pull the switch off the pedal and manually actuate it, but mounted on the pedal itself, the contacts never make contact. I can shove a screwdriver up in between the brake booster clevis and switch and they'll turn on but when pushing the pedal with my foot - No such luck! I can't be the only one who's run into this... HELP!

I'm about to pull out the welder and add a little material to brake clevis rod!

Does this make any sense? Somebody please help!

Hey I had that problem to. I was tring to use the old one I had on there before I took the body off my rig.

To fix mine I went and bought a new one (about $9) and I never had a problem with it since.

Wes... this is a brand new switch. I am not sure what to think here. I may try swapping it out though.

      Thanks,

I got one off a 70's F150. Works so much better it isn't funny. you will have to fab a mount for the switch though.

I had this problem after switching to power brakes and discs. I had a firm pedal but not as firm as the non-power brakes. The spring tension on the brake switch (new and old) was too much and I just cut the spring on the switch to lessen the tension. The two pieces of spring are still in the switch. Make sure you don't loose too much tension though as your brake lights will be on constantly.

Make Sure You Have The Plastic Bushings On The Pedal Where The Switch Goes

I fixed it! I put a couple of dobs of solder on the part of the switch the pedal clevis is supposed to hit and it works like a champ now. I do need the plastic bushings though. The pedal has the bushings on the swivel where it mounts but not on the switch.

              Thanks guys.
