Re: Radiator education
I am partial to a standard replacement brass Rad, with some variant of the adapting hoses... 14Justice used the Champion alum rad that has the re-positioned inlet/outlet and is/was very happy with it. With any rad like that, that has an internal Trans cooler in it, make sure it has been placed on the cool side of the Rad.
Upper - 68 GTO 400 with AC upper (Which I did not think it fit all that well) Continental (used to be Goodyear) # 60710 installed backwards cut/rotated slightly/spiced together with 1 1/2" splice > Plastic, metal, or stainless if you know someone.
Lower - 2002 F250 superduty 7.3 lower, or WH's lower relocation tube with the factory lower hose cut in two places.
Alum fan shroud - because it is deeper than factory and you need to get the Explorer fan at least 1/2 way into the shroud. I have bought WH's when it was made by Ron Davis ($$$) and now the one they have repoped themselves locally.
By the way 4R70W Tranny uses 3/8" cooling lines, not the 5/16" that came standard with the C4 auto, so a factory cooler in a Rad can be a restriction?Last edited by 904Bronco; 07-03-2018, 05:29 PM.2002 F250 Superduty, 7.3 241,500 miles and counting
