  • Fuel Drain back

So my old worn 302 always had to be cranked for a while after it sat overnight before it would start. I always attributed it to the low compression and blown rings. That block ended up being junk and i installed a 5.0 roller motor from a mercury mountaineer. Unfortunately the long crank when cold issue still persists. I installed a new fuel pump with the new motor, but the fuel lines and carb are all the same. Its the stock tank with a 4 barrel quadrajet. Can the fuel be draining back into the tank? Or is the fuel evaporating from the carb? Any ideas on how to fix something like this?
