  • Quick release steering wheel?

Does anyone here use a quick release steering wheel hub on their Bronco steering column? I'm pondering doing this for a little bit of added theft deterent.

NRG makes a pretty nice one that you can put a lock on the hub so somebody doesn't
take off with your rig using another wheel or vise grips...

I'm running the qra1 on my buggy. It is attached to the column they sell. Really nice piece. Swing by and check it out. I like the lock option mentioned though.

I have the "hex" style, it's sloppy and crappy.
Get the splined type that Marc linked to.

It doesn't look like they have one that matches the spline count on a Bronco steering column. Is welding the splined collar for the hub to the column shaft recommended?

              Re: Quick release steering wheel?

I've got a grant splined one in the bronco and it works great...no slop. you just need to keep it greased and out of the open elements with out the wheel on for extended periods of time.
I also have the grant locking quick release too in my mustang. that one is the best for theft deterrent at the steering column.
