    Rig info
94 351 into a 61 scout with a painless wiring harness, and RJM mustang fuel injection harness

IM trying to start this damn thing for the first time, and am having some issues. The first time I turned the key, it turned over, so I let the key off. Went to turn it again, and it just clicked but sounded like the starter was trying to engage, just not tunring. The starter was VERY hot. Started doing some test light ops, and had power every but at the starter 'battery' lead. I had the starter batt lead running to the right side of the solenoid, which I think is what the factory had. Basically its hooked to a constant 12V source.

Changed over to the switched side of the solenoid, and swappped 'battery' lead wires to a new one, and it turned over again, but then blew the main fuse between the battery and ALL power to the rig. (im ruuning a 100 amp fuse close to the battery, becuase I have a long run between the batt and main fuse blocks, etc.

Does anyone have any ideas? I need to start this bitch so I can get it off to the exhaust shop and make its virgin run in two weeks.

    Re: starter wiring issues

Is it a standard old-style starter, or a PMGR ("mini") starter?

    Got pics of the wiring?

Oh, and is it a manual or auto trans? And are you sure you matched the starter to the type of trans?

When it first cranked for that moment, what did it sound like?
