Dana 60 gears wanted

Does anyone have a line on a good set of slightly used reverse cut 5.13 gears for my HP 60 conversion? That's just about the last part of the front end puzzle. Just need an ARB for the 14 bolt rear.

Why wouldn't you run a detroit locker in the rear and save some money. With those big tires it should effect driving on the road tha much.

I hear ya on the arb. And I think the Yukon Grizzley is a better choice than the Detroit, it is the same if not identical design. You can't beat a lifetime warranty and up reimbursement up to $2000 for damages caused if it fails.

Just missed the pirate gears. I'm keeping my options for the rear open. Be hard to pass up on a good used detroit considering a 14 bolt ARB cost about $1100.00. Already have the ARB for the 60. Would be nice to have two.

The High Pinion Dana 60 axle was originally only available in 3.54 and 4.10 ratio. Unlike the Dana 60 rear axle, the High Pinion did not have a carrier split. When Dana-Spicer designed the 4.56 ratio gears for the High Pinion...they used the same differential carrier, and made the ring gear thicker than a comparable 4.56 low pinion gearset. Later on, Dana Spicer introduced the 5.38 ratio for the high pinion, but maintained the thicker gearset so that all High pinion Dana front axles use the same carrier.

The aftermarket came in, and started to create new gearsets for the high pinion axle...but tried to maintain the carrier split between 4.10 and 4.56. So the "thin" gearset was born. A high pinion Dana 60 running a 4.56, 4.88, 5.13, and 5.38 ratio can be installed with the correct High Pinion carrier, or you can buy thin gears and run the incorrect (but fully compatible) offset carrier. This has caused great confusion to the High Pinion Dana 60 crowd.

Fortunately, when you put the gears side by side...you can tell the difference between the thin gears and the thick ones. The ARB RD35 goes with one set, and the RD36 goes with the other.

So "REVTHICK" means reverse rotation, Dana 60 high pinion gearset with the offset for a high ratio carrier. (4.10 and down numerically)

Do you have a matching set of 4.88 for a 14 bolt? Those should work nice for a 40" tire...
