  • Cal 4Wheel/ 4WPW memberships!!!!!!!

I haven't heard from 4WPW yet but I will let you all know when I do. I got the membership kit from Cal 4Wheel. I just breezed thru it and found this info

"When your club applies for membership, you must send a Delegate (one member who is chosen to represent your club) to a District meeting. A copy of your club by-laws, a complete Roster, Dues Certification Form and proper remittance. At this time the Membership Chairman will present your club application to be voted upon by the Delegates for your acceptance into the Association."

We don't have by-laws or dues. I will have to look in to it more. I also got an email from the North District Membership Chairman, Gary Johnson. I will give him a call and see how neccessary these things are for membership. Otherwise we can all join as individuals. I will keep you all posted.

It looks like the qualifications are exactly what we are trying to avoid.

If it turns this into the formal type club that we don't want, than we don't need membership into a larger organization.

I agree Mike. Dues will be $40 per year per vehicle, plus a one time initiation fee of $35 for the club. We would need to have a delegate at the quarterly meetings as well. Not to mention a president, vice pres, secretary, treasurer...etc. They do have a lot of events as well as raffles. It looks interesting but like Mike said, do we want to get this formal? If anyone wants a copy of the info kit let me know. It may be something someone may want to join as an individual though.

I am still waiting to hear from 4WPW!

I am a member of a 4 wheel club, which is sactioned by Cal 4 Wheel. It's seams like a lot is involved with the Membership thing, but it's not that big of a deal. However, I agree that if you don't want a "Formal" club, you are better off joining Cal 4 Wheel as an individual and enjoy all the runs and raffles that way. If you are not a member of Cal 4 Wheel yet, I strongly urge you to join. Cal 4 Wheel puts a lot of time, money and lots of effort into educating the politicians about our sport and trying to keep the trails open for us to enjoy.

I was hoping this would stay less formal. I am not a big fan of Cal4Wheel. Though, I am a member through my current club. We may or may not vote to send our monies elsewhere come May. Dues are going up to $45. this year. I don't think it you would need officers and bylaws. I think they would be happy just to get your money. Someone would have to show up for the first meeting to get voted in.

I can get some bylaws real quick. We can get a roster as well. What do they care if we charge for membership to our own club??

Maybe its dues to join their club, in that case I'm not to intersted, would'nt mind dues to our club, maybe to help with trail cleanup material, (garbage bags and things), BBQ get togethers, charcoal, fixins etc.) and stuff like that.

I am not apposed to donations to help club/web site/get together expenses. Dennis asked a while back if I would like to start donation acceptance. Maybe we should...what is the general consensus??

For us to belong to cal4wheel, everybody must join. No exceptions. The dues starting this July 1 will be $45 per family. That would be above and beyond anything the club might or might not charge.

Just so you know, these are 2 different business's we're talking about. The 5% discount is at 4 wheel parts. The $45 dues are for Cal. Association of 4 wheel drive clubs. I will still go down to 4wheel parts on friday, or at least call them to see what's up with the discounts.

I thought about this alot yesterday, and what Sivregl is trying to get across. And I'm rethinking that if the dues are going to help with keeping trails and "public" areas public and open, (I do want to do my part!!) then I'm more intersted in joining their club. The dues wont change my life style. 5% is not much of a discount but I just bough an ARB and thinking about new tires, 5% will help defray the dues.

Anyway, I'm just giving this more thought.
