My bronco has been registered and fully insured since 2006 - even when it was disassembled and in pieces in my garage and side yard. When it just had standard plates, keeping it registered was ultra cheap, and I had a classic policy on it which was also inexpensive.
As many people who stop and look at my rig when I am out in the garage... its just too well known that its in there.
