Smokin some pork butts today. Using some plum from a tree that died and cut down. This is the best smoker wood I have used......Will have to wait to see how it will finish.

      Re: Plum

Interesting. I've been 'buying' Hickory in bags. I ran out. Had a dead Pecan tree.....Best smoke over bought stuff. I'll be saving my plum branches now. Thanks!

        Re: Plum

Fruit (and nut) trees make for great smoker wood. My neighbor's almond tree fell through our fence years ago. He had a tree service come remove it. As they were cutting up the tree, I asked if they could toss me some logs. They left me every last usable sized log, took only the brush and leaves. I split and stacked most of that tree in the side yard and I'm almost through it now. It's a slow burning wood, it is lousy for camp fires but as a fuel wood, its the best free firewood I've ever had.
