    Re: 6daze project

I have the same CO2 setup, I love it. Did you get a different regulator to run air tools? I noticed you said not extended use. Can you run air tools off that regulator? I was told not to.

Cool, I use those same clamps for my shovel.

I didn't get a different one, I dont see the need. I can run them but I read that they will not live long at 150psi. I think changing a tire should be fine however....

Looks like all you would need to do is put an adjustable regulater in line.

            Couple of updates....

I rebuilt the manual steering column with new bearings and a smooth shift collar. That thing was broken for almost 20 years! I pulled a collar out of the junkyard and just spray bombed it.

I also put a new turn signal cancel switch in, it works most of the time...

The column also got a new Autometer tach. I couldn't resist the $60 off rebate last summer! Unfortunately while cleaning up I threw out the original packaging....No rebate for me. Oh well.

I pulled the Co2 mount out of the back of the Bronco. There is just not enough room for the mount I am using. I put my "tray" back in to hide the woofer and tools. I might mount the co2 horozontally or cut a hole in the tray.

I also moved the liscense plate a little. It felt like it stuck out a little to far on the cooler rack. I moved it to the swing arm and still need to move the lights.

And the big update....my motor showed up from the builder...

            Roller block bored 30 over
            balanced
            line bored
            stock crank
            all new bearings/brass freeze plugs
            Schneider cam/springs
            valve job on GT40 heads
            double roller timing chain

            Should be 9.1 CR

I will be reusing my Explorer manifolds and existing EFI.

            PICS!

You need some shrink tubing around that clamp to hid it...

I wish I had a yellow on black CA plate

I look forward to the stories and sounds of the new motor

                    Re: 6daze project

I got the go-ahead from the boss for the tranny rebuild!

So I am getting everything lined up to minimize downtime; chasing down parts, borrowing a tranny jack, etc.

                    I picked up some parts...

                    Motor mounts form O'Reilly #2329 $15.98
                    Distributor (steel gear) #FD17 $ 80.99

Oil Pump from Napa #224-41128 $33.01
                    Oil pump screen #224-13118 $23.25

                    Dipstick from Ford #F67Z-6750-BA $13.77
                    tube for dipstick #XL2Z-6754-AA $38.19

And some Ford blue paint for the oil pan and block, hi temp aluminum for the JBA shorties.

Any thoughts on what else to replace while the motor is out?

                      Re: 6daze project

Pulled the hood off today, first time it has been off. I tried the 1/8" holes in the hinge trick so we will see if the hood aligns easy..

Found some rust near one hinge

I decided it would be easier to pull the hood off completly for the swap. Plus I wanted to paint it. I have never been real happy with the primer color it has been for the last 15 years.

I found a local paint shop that will put my existing paint color in spray cans. I almost did the "hot rod black" thing but just cant.... too much black under the hood for me.

Got the Explorer oil pan painted. Not sure I am totally happy with the Ford blue... A little light?

What should I do with this rust? I plan to wire wheel it to see how extensive it is. Then maybe POR 15 if its not too bad?

I've used "metal ready" spray on rust like that and it eats it down to bare metal quickly. Then prime and paint and you are golden! I like the early Ford blue on your oil pan. Are you going to do the block and heads the same color?

Is that the aluminum or steel explorer pan?

It's the aluminum version... It's all I could find. I have heard stories of it cracking on impacts. I guess I will be careful and keep looking for a steel one.

                            I actually have two.

The block and heads will be the same blue, valve covers, intakes and water pump POR 15 aluminum. I guess it will "pop" with that ford blue.

                            Thanks for the advice.

Got a little work done today...

                              Pulled driveshafts
                              pulled radiator
                              pulled trans/transfer case

Had to pull one header to get the trans out. PITA!

I got the trans dropped off at the shop for a rebuild. Hopefully I can get the radiator to the shop tomorrow for at least a cleaning. I still have the stock radiator that works great. I had it cleaned and re-cored(?) about 15 years ago. The only problem is that it barely fits around the darn F100 box. That thing needs to go!

I began stripping the motor and will get it pulled hopefully this weekend.

Also found some pics of the motor prior to rebuild.

Little progress today, 3 year old decided not to nap.

Got the rt side serp pulled off, alternator
                                Started draining the PS fluid
Pulled the upper manifold off, found several cracked vacuum plugs

These will all get tapped and properly plugged before going back on.
