Somehow 5 tubes of 1.75 DOM followed me home.

My plans are to have this thing done by the WH roundup.
Here's where I am at right now. I am 100% wing'n it. I dont have a fancy computer print out of what the end result is going to be.

    Re: New Roll Cage

I'm right behind ya 71. I added on to a existing 1.75'' roll cage with 1.50'' and I don't like the look of the smaller tube. prob gona yank it out and start with a new 1.75 die. Ill tell ya I build stuff all the time out of tubing and that blue painters tape is your friend when u "wing it" like u r doing. I like to stand there and study how it will look from different angles and that stuff works better for me than drawing out plans. I was going to incorporate some sheet metal and dimple die work into my cage. But never did.
Keep the pic's and progress coming, lord knows this site needs something going on.
Do ya mind letting us in on how much your tubing was and were u grabbed it from.

Painters tape is the bomb. Tape it up, and then replace the tape with tubing. Click image for larger version

A friend grabbed it from one of his suppliers (Civil Eng. guy) I think it was a Sacramento area company.
5 sticks of 1.75 was a little under $400 with tax

                Re: New Roll Cage

                Heres what got done today.
39ford , 69BRONCO and ray (not on the site) came over today and we knocked out almost all the tubes.

Next up is tying the seat frame into the cage. I might get started on that tomorrow.

I am going to bend some more tube for the bar under the windshield later when I get all my measurements right.

I really want to add some build it LED lights for the interior. I want the rear lit up because I use the tailgate for cooking. What everyone running for interior lights.

Nice work fellas. Nice clean cage. Are you going to use all 5 lengths after all said and done ? Just wondering about how many I will need. Will you be tying it to the frame ?

Looks great Ryan, don't forget to fish your wires through the tubing before welding makes for a nice clean look.

I am not tying it into the frame now. Maybe in the future.

I have used 4 stick so far, and have a long piece left that will be used for the windshield. To tie the seats into the cage, I am going to have to break into the 5th stick. (about 8ft) I am also going to add some more tubing across the doorway.
